Belfast PSNI officer hospitalized after getting knocked off his bicycle

Brave officer injured while on duty

A police officer was injured in Belfast on Wednesday afternoon after getting knocked off his bike. The collision occurred on the Ravenhill Road area of the city at around 1pm. The officer was taken to hospital for treatment, and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Outpouring of support for the officer

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has expressed its gratitude for the support the officer has received from the public.

In a statement, the PSNI said: "We would like to thank the public for their support. This incident is a reminder of the dangers that our officers face on a daily basis. We are grateful that the officer's injuries are not life-threatening, and we wish him a speedy recovery."

Increased police presence in the area

The PSNI has increased its presence in the Ravenhill Road area following the incident.

In a statement, the PSNI said:

"We are aware of the concerns that the public have following this incident. We have increased our presence in the area to provide reassurance. We would like to assure the public that we are doing everything we can to investigate this incident and bring those responsible to justice."

Witnesses sought

The PSNI is appealing for witnesses to the collision. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to contact the PSNI on 101, quoting reference number 882 14/09/22.

Dashcam footage appeal

The PSNI is also appealing for anyone with dashcam footage of the collision to come forward.

In a statement, the PSNI said:

"We are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who has dashcam footage of the collision. This footage could be vital in helping us to establish the circumstances of the incident."
